The incentives of the Industry 4.0 Plan with which the Government intends to encourage technological innovation have been confirmed.

The DEF confirms the Industry 4.0 Plan for 2020 "It is necessary to accelerate the digitalization of the country, with the aim of tracing Italy back to the Desi index, which detects the progress made by EU states in this area, not only on the front of infrastructures but also in relation to digital services for citizens and businesses ".

In the chapter dedicated to innovation (page 103) of the full text, it is highlighted that "technological innovation must be encouraged by promoting the increase in private investment, still too far from the European average, in innovative start-ups and SMEs" and that "The Business Plan 4.0 will be updated as part of a new national innovation strategy also with a view to developing sustainable and green policies ".

And again “The 4.0 business plan will be strengthened, as part of a new national innovation strategy, through an organic review of existing measures, to encourage the wider participation of small and medium-sized enterprises, production chains and stimulate the attraction of large strategic investments. The Government will continue to invest in skills by enhancing the ITS system, confirming the contribution for innovation managers - introduced in the budget law for 2019 - and extending the eligible expenses to the 4.0 tax and training credit compatibly and within the limits of the Regulation on state aid ".
